Dear Fellow Members,
In some of my past Commodores messages I have indicated to you that the members have voted in the best group of officers and trustees that are holding office today. When being voted in either as a officer or trustee, their job is just starting as they will have two years as a trustee to be in charge of a committee and as a officer thay will have one year. You get to see these people once a month when they give their reports at our monthly meeting. What you don't see is what they do between meetings. They work on a daily basis on what is required of them for their position and as it has been said before, without these people doing what they do, we would have to pay for this by hiring contractors. Can you imagine what your due's would look like. We are saving money thru them but it doesn't end with the Board of Trustees. Our club is guided by a few trustees, but it's run by our 420 members. After voting us in, your job as a member begins as well. You have responsibilities and we look to you for support just as you look to the Board for support. Learn how to access the website, read and understand the bylaws and house rules. Be proactive in your club, every one of our committees need volunteers at different times during the year. Join a committee and help out when called upon. Helping your club can be as simple as returning your empty glasses to the bar, using your card to enter the building, presenting your card to the bartender, signing in your guests or perhaps lending a hand cleaning up when you are through on the deck or at a table. If you have a special Knowledge, Skill, Talent or Hobby and would like to share your expertise with your fellow members let us know. If there is a special program or event you would like to organize at the club, we are interested. Please remember, it all works better when we work together, so find your niche and get involved. As we enter the month on May, I would like to wish a Happy Mothers Day to all Mom's, and invite the Mom's of our club to join us Sunday morning, Mothers Day, for a free breakfast and flower 9:30am to 12noon. Don't forget to check our website gpycnj.com for details on our Memorial day beach party, Elvis night, Ron's kitchen specials and all things happening at the club. see you there - volunteer - do Good - feel Good Ed Horton, Commodore |
