commodore's message

4/1/2021

The initial opening of the club was a success.  It was really nice seeing everyone at the club and members reuniting after being away for a year and four days.  The Board of Trustees opened the club with one thing in mind; “Members First.”  We monitored the amount of members coming and going from the building and at a special meeting with the GPYC Board of Trustees on Tuesday March 30th, the Board voted to lift restrictions on Wednesday and Thursday because we feel we will not exceed the 50% occupancy limit; this includes children are welcome on these days.   On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday a member can sign in three adult guests.    We ask that on the weekends, no children yet until we monitor the occupancy and see where we stand.  We will adjust it back after the Easter weekend if needed, however we feel we can accommodate the extra guests with the capacity limits at this time while keeping the building safe.

This weekend Chef Lenny returns to the kitchen.  He will have a few small specials that will be going out in the kitchen news Email shortly.  News will be posted shortly about the April 11th boat slip meeting.  Andy and Rainer were awaiting the April 1st dues deadline so the seniority list could be updated before we send out the information.  I want to remind the members that the next general membership meeting is April 10th at 11:00 a.m. on the first floor of the club.  The club will open immediately after the meeting along with the kitchen.

On a final note, Trustee Diane Chapman has resigned from the Board.  Diane has been a valued member of the Board and I want to thank her for her time and dedication to our organization.  John “Jay” Delesandro was nominated and voted on by the board to fill Diane’s term.  Jay is an outstanding member of our club and was the next member in line after last year’s elections counts.

On behalf of myself and the entire GPYC Board of Trustees, we want to thank everyone for your continued support.  We are moving forward in the right direction and look forward to seeing everyone at the club!

Respectfully,

Ron Heinzman, GPYC Commodore
