The summer is half over now and we will be looking ahead to the fall. I wish to thank each GPYC Board member for their time and service to our club. The Election Committee headed by former Commodore Tom Noonan is getting ready for our Election Day on August 14th and he will be putting out more information as the date gets closer.
I think it’s important to give you an update on the state of your club. As I write this message to you, we have on hand: Operating Account........................ $ 7,374.54 Credit Card/Rebuilding Account.... $ 92,204.66 Fundraising/Slip Account...............$ 23,386.17 TOTAL Accessible Liquid Monies...$ 122,965.37 SBA payback account.....................$ 80,362.70 On another important note, there have been many false rumors and false information spread out over social media during this election cycle. In a lot of instances, the individual(s) tag or check into other organizations and local businesses and place their political views and in some instances have made insinuations that I take kick backs from a local restaurant and further have indicated I am involved in criminal activity. I have a print-out in one instance where my opponent asked for more comments. This is totally unacceptable behavior, and we are better than this. I have personally apologized to the Exalted Ruler of the Toms River Elks #175, The Commodore of the Island Heights Yacht Club, The Toms River Yacht Club, and the County Commander of the American Legion. Just to name a few. Further, I have never been a paid Commodore of this building. I am, however, your paid kitchen manager and have proudly been in this position since November of 2017 before I was even a Board member. My salary was mirrored to the bar manager’s and the person who made the motion at the first meeting I presided over as Commodore taking away my hourly rate to make a set salary was Edwin Gillan. It was seconded, and unanimously approved. I do not and have never voted on my own salary, nor set my own salary. My family and wife have been embarrassed by these slanderous postings and the one person who should have stopped it and advised his running mates that this is unacceptable, didn’t. So as your Commodore, I want to say I am embarrassed, and I want to apologize to each member of this club for their poor behavior. We are better than this and this is not who we are. When we walk in the doors of this beautiful building, we are not Republicans or Democrats; we are GPYC members. We are not setting a good example for the many new members who come into this club to enjoy the facilities looking forward to good food, drinks, and most importantly, not being badgered with club nonsense while you’re trying to eat your dinners. Also, just as important, we are not leaving a positive image in the community we share with our neighbors and other organizations. In closing, I have said it before, and I will say it again. It has been a complete honor and privilege to serve as your Commodore. I also wish to thank each Board member by name for their service to this club. Vice-Commodore Tom Herr, Recording Secretary Dave Felon, Financial Secretary Rainer Moellering, Treasurer Andy Chencharik, Trustee, Tom McGovern, Trustee, Vanessa Heinzman, Trustee, Denise Giuffre, Trustee, Linda Clarici, Trustee, Lenny Gomez, Trustee Jay Delesandro, Trustee Ernie Chapman, and Trustee Bob Schaffener. I encourage everyone to vote on August 14th for your favorite candidates. Respectfully, Ronald P. Heinzman, GPYC Commodore Comments are closed.
