July is here and if the weather cooperates, we have some nice upcoming events. First, July 10th is our General Membership meeting, which will be held on the 3rd floor at 7:30 p.m. Former Commodore Tom Noonan has been appointed by me to head our 2021 Election Committee, where nominations from the floor will take place for all of the Flag Officer positions, and four Trustees positions. The Trustee position is a two-year term, and the Flag Officer positions are a one-year term.
I will be seeking another term as your Commodore. I have said it before, and I will say again, that it is been a privilege and an honor to serve as your Commodore. I consider every member and your families my GPYC Family, and I will continue to move our organization forward; continue to be fiscally responsible; and lead our Board of Trustees into the new year. Contrary to any rumors you may have heard, your club is doing great! As I write this message to the membership, the kitchen and bar are profiting, and Andy reports we have $27,422.86 in the TD Operating Account, $23,386.17 in the Ocean First Rainy Day/Dock Account and $68,695.00 in the Ocean First Credit Card Account for a total of 119,504.03 available cash. This does not include $80,322.70 placed aside for the TD SBA account. July 14th we be hosting our second annual Day on the Bay with TEAM Randy led by Treasurer Andy Chencharik. It is without a doubt, a day I’m looking forward to and one of the best days of the year at the club giving these outstanding young men and women a day on the bay. If you have time to stop by and lend a hand, contact Andy. July 17th is our Summer Beach Party from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Umberto will be back serving all your favorites and there will be live entertainment on the beach from the Daddy/Daughter Duo. Trustee Denise Giuffre and Diane Moellering have nice things for the kids planned as well. We will set up all our tables and tents, but it is recommended that you bring a chair and beach equipment to set up comfortably for the afternoon. It’s going to be a nice event and I along with the Board of Trustees are looking forward to seeing everyone at the beach. August 1st is our annual crabbing contest. It is another club staple and there is a sign-up sheet inside the club for volunteers. Trustees Lenny Gomez and Jay Delesandro will be volunteering the day in the kitchen making all the favorites to go along with your catch of the day. If you wish to help Lenny in the kitchen, please let him know or sign up. Traditionally, this is a day where all the members look forward to the desserts provided by the membership. If you wish to donate a dessert dish, please let us know. August 14th is Election Day at the club. Commodore Noonan will be providing information soon with current board members seeking re-election and any new members seeking new positions. I encourage everyone with an interest in a position to run for a board seat. I also encourage all members to vote. Your vote counts and will determine the direction of your club moving into the new year. I would like to thank the current GPYC Board of Trustees for their time and dedication to the club. I would also like to thank a few members again that always go above and beyond. Andy Chencharik, Rainer and Diane Moellering, Tom Herr, Tom McGovern, Tom Noonan, Vanessa Heinzman, Jay Delesandro, Linda Clarici, Eric Baumann, Denise Giuffre, Lenny Gomez, Dave Felton, Don Krebs, and Dave Slowinski. On behalf of myself and the entire GPYC Board of Trustees, we wish everyone a safe and healthy 4thof July weekend! Respectfully, Ron Heinzman, GPYC Commodore Comments are closed.
